There are probably many surfaces in your home made of wood, such as doors, tables, cabinets, floors and more. To keep them looking their best, it’s important to clean them regularly, but more importantly, properly. According to Sacramento, California carpenters, the first and most important rule is to never soak wood with water. Wood is a porous material, and water will cause the pores to swell. If you have to wipe up dust, it’s best to use a dry cloth. Additionally, Sacramento carpentry contractors recommend using vinegar to polish wood surfaces. However, be sure to make a compound consisting of 50% olive oil and 50% white vinegar. If it’s pure, undiluted vinegar it can cause damage to the wood.
